APA Launch & Tug Crew Honored with Refresher Basic Training Certificates

Friday, July 19th, 2013–This afternoon the Refresher Basic Training Certificates (STCW Table A VI/1-4) were presented to APA’s Maritime personnel (Launch and Tug Crew).The port’s Managing Director, Alfonso Boekhoudt had the honor of recognizing the team for a job well done in presence of Mr. Hornwah (Sonny) Ho-Nautical Advisor to the port, and the Captain and Crew of the FREEWINDS where all the training was held. Recipients include: Adriaan Kock; Natalio Maria; Rafael Maduro; Maikel Bisslik; Oscario Ras; Robert Bisslik; Eugene Tromp; Franchot Scoop; Pedro Figaroa; Gregory THode; Eric Koolman; Everaldo Dubero; Alex Werleman; Rafael Martis. It is customary that the port takes advantage of the low season to promote educational gatherings amongst its team members known as One Perfect Summer sessions.  This particular training conducted by De Ruyter Training & Consultancy consisted of the following:   Medical First Aid •             Basic Treatment of bleeding, shock, burns, fractures. •             Basic Treatment of unconsciousness, hypothermia. •             Basic aim of survival first aid / priority of actions. •             AED (Heart start) •             Casualty transport •             Course evaluation   Practice Survival •             Launching of Life rafts •             Use of lifejackets •             Use of immersion suits •             Boarding a life raft from the water •             Righting an inverted life raft •             Helicopter pick up •             Pyrotechnics •             Course evaluation   Practice Firefighting •             Breathing training & exercises •             Fire prevention •             Firefighting drill (Real lifetime firefighting)
